Numerical Simulation of Gas-Solid Two-Phase Heat Transfer in a Kaolin Cyclone Cooling System

The kaolin suspension calcination technology is currently gaining attention as a new process of calcining kaolin. In this paper, the cooling system designed by CBMI Construction Co., Ltd. simulated using ANSYS Fluent software to analyze velocity field and temperature gas–solid two-phase flow Eulerian model. A compiled UDF (User-Defined Function) used simulate transfer mass heat from downcomer tube different elements. gas, coming gas outlet cyclone, enters next level twin-cylinder cyclone in spiral state. results show that airflow consists an external top bottom internal top. During downward movement airflow, outer continuously transformed into inner cyclonic flow. part rotates close cylinder likely become ‘short circuit flow’, which largely affects separation efficiency effect cyclone.
